Lake Scaeveraen is a large body of water often hit by thunderstorms. It is said that the almost black water hides creatures of nightmare and there is an aura of magic around the lake, hinting at demonic influence.
The lake used to be a battlefield where a demon prince was destroyed (Vorthar the Destroyer) by an alliance of elves, dwarves and a dragon about a thousand years prior. The anniversary of his defeat is in three years.
