The city of Jevia is an independent city located between the Essian Forest and the banks of the Tortone river. A decade ago it suffered from a catastrophic earthquake in which the ground in the northern part of the city sank and water from the river rushed in. To this day large parts of the harbor district are under water but a lot of poor people still live in the decaying houses. Many buildings have been connected with wooden planks and makeshift bridges.
Jevia is ruled by Lord Richard of Jevia, a nobleman who is seen as a strict but just ruler. Other noblemen have quite an influence in the city and sometimes they even have their own soldiers. A force to reckon with is the Order of the Wolf, an ancient order of knights that have their headquarters in the city. They are not under the command of any noblemen but have sworn to uphold law and order in Jevia. Their influence is so strong that they appoint the commander of the palace guards (usually one of their own). Jevia has a flourishing quarter of craftsmen and a number of alchemists and magic shops. River traders connect the city with the ancient city of Nexor in the south and with Tarpen in the north.
